Implementing a new graphics management and playout solution in only 10 days
Changing a graphics pipeline is always a big deal: there are new tools to implement, templates to adjust or recreate, and GUIs to get familiar with. At the same time, everybody wants to stick to a workflow that has proven to be efficient. This was the challenge that Plazamedia was facing when they decided to retire their custom graphics management system Norne. After they had looked at all the big players on the market, it became clear that none of them could replicate their previous workflow. Except for M2Control.
We assisted Plazamedia with the implementation and were able to set up their M2Control pipeline in a way that allowed them to remain as productive as before, while adding flexible data management functionalities and extensive automation and logging features. Since M2Control is designed to adjust to the client’s needs, we were able to mirror their previous workflow. The result is that existing staff need no more than an hour of training to operate the new system.
Since the entire pipeline needed to be on air within only 10 days, we also developed the necessary graphics templates. In the future, however, Plazamedia will be able to create their entire content inhouse in M2Control’s professional programming environment. The new workflow has been in use since the beginning of the German Football Bundesliga in August 2017.
