Graphics layout and workflow redesign across all five channels of HSE24
For over a decade we have supported German shopping network HSE24 with their highly specialized broadcast graphics and data management needs. In early 2017, our cooperation reached a new level as we implemented a completely new workflow and redesign across all HSE24 channels in Germany, Italy and Russia.
With this redesign, HSE24 is answering a multitude of changing circumstances, mainly the need for more timely layouts and elegant design to accommodate the viewing expectations of their audience. Furthermore, the new workflow allows the operator to flexibly switch graphical content from the well-known lower third to sidebars. This is especially interesting for the sale of fashion products, where models need to be seen from head to toe. Shifting the graphics to the side offers more real estate in the relevant areas of the screen and gives audiences a better view of the product.
In the course of this redesign, we also implemented a new real-time render engine. With requirements like full HD production, dual channel playout and the seats needed for five channels – with a sixth channel announced for Dubai – Ventuz was the most competent and cost-effective choice. It also allowed us to create the complex logic that sits behind the HSE24 graphics pipeline in a very short amount of time. Additionally, we updated our graphics management and playout software M2Control, which is used at the operator’s seat. To offer seamless communication with the new render engine, M2Control was equipped with automated template generation for Ventuz. HSE24 now also benefits from the integrated logging functionalities, which allow the team to evaluate the performance of products and graphics in real-time.
