Create synchronized clocks and scoring graphics for online sports broadcasts
The rise of online TV and streaming presents a whole new set of challenges for the production of data-driven overlay graphics. One of them is the synchronization of clocks in sports broadcasts on the web. They need to be precise, always on point and in absolute sync with the camera feed, which is not an easy task when rendering on the viewer’s device.
Which is why the Molden Media team is currently developing a series of widgets with our partner Singular.live. These widgets provide a wide variety of sports clocks running in perfect sync. Instead of an event-based approach, as it is used in the broadcast environment, we are relying on states and time stamps to evaluate the correct time status on every individual device, independent of its location.
Additionally, we are working on a score widget family for different sports. Since each sport presents its own scoring system, each widget is crafted to comply with the corresponding sport’s logic. The score data, for example soccer stats, is delivered by Sportradar and streamed directly into the Singular.live graphics pipeline.
Both widget families – clocks and scores – are available in the Singular.live interface and can be added to a composition with only one click. We are continuosly expanding these families to include more sports disciplines and clock versions.
